# Mod Content Interview (for your AI agent)

Use this before writing any lore, character, dialogue, or world files for a mod. Hand it to your agent and say "interview me with the content interview before you write anything."

## Instructions for the agent

1. First read the mod's existing files of the kind you will write, plus any documentation, so you know the exact format, field names, and limits.
2. Ask the questions below a few at a time, in plain English. Offer two or three example answers for each so the user can pick one or riff on it.
3. Read the answers back as a short summary and get a yes before drafting.
4. Save the answers to `records\content-preferences.md` so future sessions can reuse them.
5. Keep facts and invention separate in your research notes. Mark anything you invented.

## The questions

### The player character

- Who are you playing: a character already in the game, or your own?
- Name, age, where they come from, and the one event that shaped them.
- What do they want, and what are they hiding? (Private goals stay private: other characters only learn them if your character says so.)

### The world

- How true to history or the source material should it be? Where the game's own world disagrees, which wins?
- How harsh or forgiving should the world feel?
- Which themes matter most: politics, faith, family, war, trade, romance?
- Should characters hint at real events still to come?

### The voice

- How should characters talk: modern and plain, or period flavor that stays readable?
- How much do characters know about faraway places and big events? (Keeping knowledge local makes the world feel bigger.)

### Limits

- Anything to avoid entirely?
- How long should the files be? With AI-driven characters, longer files can make them slower to answer.

## After drafting

- Validate every file (for example, JSON must parse).
- Check that nothing contradicts the game's own data: names, places, who rules what.
- Back up the mod's current files, then install the new ones.
- After the user plays for a while, read the logs to confirm the game actually loaded the new files.
